By the time you finish reading this article about our January, 2022 Spotlight, you will know how much our students mean to her. Elizabeth Nichole “Nicki” Hay, came to Stewart Home & School In February, 2017. Her journey so far: Started in Housekeeping; transferred to Security/Nightwatch for two years; for a day-shift schedule, transferred to Laundry for a year; transferred then to Medical Transport and in September, 2021, went back to Security/Nightwatch.
Nicki’s favorite memory of Stewart Home & School is singing and dancing to Frank Sinatra’s “Love and Marriage” with student, Carolyn.
When asked what has changed the most since Nicki came to Stewart Home & School, she says dealing with the effects of COVID has played a big part in a change in the general atmosphere. As for what has stayed the same, Nicki responds, “The love you receive from our students . . . You can just feel their love for you without any words being said.” “I am beyond grateful that these guys and gals allow me to be a part of their lives.”
“Any book Lexie reads to me.”
“The Green Mile, Holes or The Ringer”
“Miguels or Guadalajara”
“U of L Basketball and UK Football”
Nicki says she is famous for her sense of humor, her honesty and being a mother figure to not only her own kids, but to others. In her spare time, she loves shopping, doing arts and crafts, and doing hair and nails and makeup and trying new recipes with her kids.
Nicki doesn’t know what she would be doing now If she had not come to work at SH&S, commenting, “I really can’t see myself anywhere else but here.” “I just wish I could have been here a long time ago.”
We are so thankful Nicki chose us. Our students consider her a guardian angel that watches them at night. A job she takes very seriously. Thank you Nicki!
