Our students are so passionate about giving back. Please take a moment and read this piece written by Kim, one of our beloved students. She explains why she loves to knit hats and then donate them to kids in need. Pictured is Kim with over 60 knitted hats that are being donated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital!
We love you, Kim.
LABOR OF LOVE
I had watched St. Jude Children’s Hospital fundraising campaign a few years ago. I had wanted to donate money, but because I couldn’t I thought to make hats for the kids. I enjoy knitting! I started knitting hats for the youth and for babies so they will have a warm hat to wear in between treatments. I have done this over the last 6 years. I have also donated hats to the UK Cancer Center for adults and youth to wear.
I felt I was doing something for the kids because I care about them very much. It makes me feel good that I am doing something for someone else. It’s more about giving something back. I don’t want anything in return. It’s a labor of Love!
The yarn for my projects has come from family members and more recently from a staff member at Stewart Home & School that passed away last year. So thanks Mary Harrod because it makes me feel that you are still here with us and showing your love for those that need it most.
Sincerely, Kim
