The Stewart Home & School held their annual Valentine’s Day dance Tuesday night, and it was nothing short of amazing. The basketball court was barely visible as the gym transformed into a giant dance floor. The DJ played the most popular tunes, keeping the students dancing and singing all evening.
The real story of the night was not who had the best dance moves, or who knew all of the lyrics to the songs, but it was about the generosity of one of our fellow students.
“I’ve been thinking about this idea for a long time”, Amber said, a student at Stewart Home & School. “I wanted to do something out of the kindness of my heart for my friends.” It was announced during the dance that every student in attendance was receiving a special Valentine’s Day snack compliments of Amber. Her idea? She wanted to treat all of her friends to a Chick-Fil-A chocolate chip cookie. Weeks prior to the dance Amber talked to her family about the idea and set the plan in motion.
Amber said she had the kindness and generosity in her heart to buy all of the cookies herself. How many cookies did Amber buy? “250 cookies is a lot of cookies” Amber said, while smiling.
Amber has worked for Chick-Fil-A in Frankfort, KY, since it opened in the summer of 2016. Before coming to Stewart Home & School in 2014, she worked for the corporation in Atlanta, GA. As the night ended, students were still hugging and thanking Amber for her generous thought. It was the perfect ending to a perfect night with friends.
Asking Amber if she had any other thoughts about the dance, she simply replied, “Happy Valentine’s Day to all of my friends.”
