Have you met Amy? She has a smile that lights up a room!! Amy came to SHS four years ago. (12/17/2018). Her husband, Marcus, asked if she was interested in working here. (She knew a little about the environment from Marcus and Myles.) She decided for better hours, better pay, and with already having niece who has a disability, she was ready to jump in. What she did not expect was to have such an amazing supervisor and co-workers. Machele Lawless and Ricky Gaines interviewed her and she became an immediate part of the SHS family. Amy works in the Housekeeping Department full time, but she has also worked part time for the Residential, Recreation, and Medical Nightwatch Departments. Her best memory of all is winning the John P. Stewart Award of Excellence. She is definitely a deserving recipient of an award that recognizes selflessness, compassion, and teamwork for the betterment of our students.
The biggest change on campus would be the renovation of Terrace. Housekeeping saw the move of the girls to and from their temporary location to the classroom under Springhill Down, and all that temporary relocation can bring about. Amy notes that the care and love for the residents has always been constant. No matter the department she is working in, the staff are all on the same page when it comes to safety and acceptance of each person’s individuality.
In her free time, Amy likes to hang out with her nieces and nephews. They do lots of crafts, cook, play games, watch movies, listen to music and sing, and have a great time together.

Amy is famous for her delicious brownies. The craziest thing that has ever happened to her would be when she took a random selfie with Justin Moore (country singer) at Frankfort’s Wal-Mart.
Ricky Gaines describes Amy as having a great memory when needing supplies and specific jobs that need to be done on dorms. He says he can always count on her and “is very thankful to have her on his team!” – Krista Lumpkins
