We are thrilled to announce that Bob Paxton has been juried into VSA of Kentucky and is now included on their artist registry. This will allow Bob numerous opportunities to exhibit and share his work at various venues across the Commonwealth. Bob was required to submit photos of his artwork, an application, a biography and a statement about his process. These materials were reviewed by the organization’s Board of Directors, and he was notified of his acceptance in early April. This is a huge honor for Bob considering he started painting less than a year ago. Bob describes his style as being influenced heavily by the Abstract Expressionist movement.

His process involves the random application of color and texture combined with imagery from past experience that he often thinks or talks about while he is painting. These images often change daily, adding layers and interest to his work.

VSA of Kentucky is an affiliate of the Department of VSA and Accessibility at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts located in Washington D.C. When founded in 1974, the organization was named the National Committee – Arts for the Handicapped. In 1985 the name changed to Very Special Arts and in 2010 it became VSA.

In 2011, VSA merged with the Kennedy Center’s Office on Accessibility to become the Department of VSA and Accessibility at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.One of VSA’s core principles is to provide individuals with disabilities who aspire to careers in the arts, the opportunities to develop the appropriate skills.
