“Sign here please.  Can I have your autograph?”

Those are just a couple of things that I’m sure we’ve all heard or said at one time or another.  Writing, whether with a great ink pen, marker, or pencil comes so easily to some, to others, it’s a great challenge.  But our students embrace challenges all the time and do their best in whatever task they embark on.

David was working on a tracing activity today on the Smartboard and he said that he’d like to show Mrs. Peggy.  So, I thought why not share with everyone!  He has made such great strides just this summer alone.  He’s been able to write all of his letters for a long time, but often wrote really large with his letters kind of on top of each other, or so spread out that you couldn’t tell what the letters were spelling.  So, we started doing lots of tracing exercises, using different fonts and sizes to help him gain better control of his fine motor skills. As he improved, he started being able to copy things more legibly and as you can see in the picture, he’s sending you a note today!

In our Pre-Academic department we’ve done lots of writing this summer. We’ve written stories and poetry about rainbows, fish, the zoo, and even Christmas in July!  And that’s just a few of the topics we’ve been enjoying!
