Out My “Academic” Window

Out My Window

As I look out my window everything is still. The wind rustles the snow around. I hear a beeping sound echo from around the corner as our maintenance crew clears the sidewalks and roads. I don’t hear laughter, I don’t hear students. The bells chime 8:30 and all I hear is the wind blowing.

On a normal day, I hear the hustle and bustle of students carrying their book bags and notebooks from one class to another. I hear students helping each other from the dorms to the classroom as we begin our first-period class. I hear the chimes on the bell above me as 8:30 a.m. rolls around on a beautiful morning at Stewart Home & School. Because every morning is beautiful here. It’s beautiful to see students walking hand-in-hand to class, helping each other every morning get to where they are supposed to be. It is beautiful seeing the high fives and the hugs when students reunite on the sidewalks outside the academic building as though it has been a week since their last visit. It is beautiful to see our students walking themselves to classes, enjoying their campus, enjoying their classes, and enjoying each other. It is beautiful to see the staff interact and give out hugs as they watch students on their way to classes.

Not today. Students are on their buildings due to cold weather and snow. But guess what? It’s still a beautiful thing. It is beautiful to see our staff work extra hard and extra long to secure the students’ safety. We’ve raved about our employees before and just how fabulous they are. We raved about our maintenance crew clearing our roads and sidewalks. And they do a grand job. Zach is a great example as well—he spent the night on campus last night and will spend the night on campus tonight too – all to ensure that our students have the best snow days around! It is beautiful to see how excited the students get when Zach walks on the building and they know what kind of day they will have!

Stewart Home & School is beautiful. No matter what window you look out.

Y’all do a wonderful job with all the residents and those that have the honor of living there are indeed blessed! It is a beautiful place, filled with beautiful people. Their beauty comes from the heart and that makes it even more beautiful. I cannot imagine a better group to share our daughter with. She knows and loves everyone on that campus!
