Open Arms to Down Syndrome - Stewart Home & School

Open Arms to Down Syndrome

We celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month with John today. People with Down syndrome stand with open arms to their friends and to those they don’t even know. Love you, John.

At Stewart Home & School, the students, including those who have a diagnosis of Down syndrome, are encouraged to be independent and be active creators in their day-to-day lives.  Students have the opportunity to attend classes, without an upper age limit; to take classes focused on vocational training in which the goal may be to work or volunteer either off or on-campus; to participate in recreational and extracurricular activities; and to be as independent and self-sufficient as possible.  Above all else, we strive to provide an environment where our students are embraced for being whoever they decide to be.
