Down Syndrome Champions - Stewart Home & School

Down Syndrome Champions

Today we celebrate with Amber and Sarah. They are champions, like others who have Down syndrome. Happy Down Syndrome Awareness Month!

At Stewart Home & School, the students, including those who have a diagnosis of Down syndrome, are encouraged to be independent and be active creators in their day-to-day lives.  Students have the opportunity to attend classes, without an upper age limit; to take classes focused on vocational training in which the goal may be to work or volunteer either off or on-campus; to participate in recreational and extracurricular activities; and to be as independent and self-sufficient as possible.  Above all else, we strive to provide an environment where our students are embraced for being whoever they decide to be.
