On Sunday June 8, Creative Dining Services (CDS) began managing the operations of the Stewart Home & School kitchen.

“They are a very Christian company,” said Aaron, a student fan said about CDS, “We like that. And we feel fuller!”

The accompanying picture shows the staff (most of whom have been working with SHS for years) in their new blue uniforms on which “Stewart Home & School” is monogrammed.

On Monday breakfast was cinnamon swirl French toast, Canadian bacon, oatmeal and fruit. For lunch, pulled BBQ beef sandwich, mashed sweet potatoes, steamed vegetables, and melon salad were served.  “I don’t like change, but I like it,” said Abbey. “I really like the hot BBQ.” Many students said they enjoy the new menu. “We love homemade, and we look forward to what we are having tomorrow,” said Lindsay.

Dinner included Italian chicken breast, scalloped potatoes, fresh steamed vegetables, pears, and a brownie.

We are all excited about the new emphasis on fresh and nutritious meals, including the students.

Many of our students continue to work in the kitchen through our vocational program as food cart delivery helpers, dishwashers, and order fillers. They do a great job and we are proud if them. “We like working with the new (kitchen) staff,” said James.
